Celebrating Madame Rose of Liefmans

We will be celebrating the life and work of Rosa Merckx aka Madame Rose of Liefmans Brewery, ‘The First Female Brewmaster in Belgium’. She has guided and played an important part in the heritage brands at the Liefmans Brewery in Oudenaarde since starting in 1946. In addition to becoming the first female brewmaster and operations director in a Belgian brewery (1972!). Sadly this icon of beer passed away in 2023. We will be offering free samples (once they’re gone they’re gone!) of various Liefmans’ beers, raising a toast to Rosa. Sharing more about her life and the Oud Bruin beers of the region.
